Can you claim to have been somewhere...

...if you never left the airport?
I can think of a list of significant places I have been in my life but if you asked me about them I would say "I have not been there" because I never left the airport. You know how it is when you travel; land, get off the plane, sit in the airport for an hour or 3, then get on another plane and leave without ever seeing anything outside the airport. To me this just doesn't count. I do not tell people that I have been someplace until I have at least left the airport.
Places on my list that I have "not" been to... Aukland, New Zealand Sydney, Australia Honolulu, Hawaii Texas (DFW airport) Boston, Mass. Reno, Nevada London, England Manchester, England Houston, Texas El Slavador
So what are some places you "haven't" been?

Its funny how my whole life can be summed up in that one sentance. Its like i do things, but i never do. Im going to go sit in the corner now and rethink my life.

Dublin, Ireland for me, enroute to France. In fact we never got off the plane. We had to land somewhere there due to some mechanical problem, which was quickly fixed....

The only place I can remember is San Salvador. I know there's others, but it's all a blur.

Oh, and I was wondering: Is there some sort of rule that EVERY flight has to stop in Atlanta?

I haven't been there either! Actually both times I wasn't there I was on my way to Philly and back from there. I also haven't been to London, England. Actually its kinda weird I was just thinking about this today, I was going to make a map of all the places I have travelled too and I was wondering if I should include stop overs. Then I got distracted by something else and now this post has reminded me and I really no longer care, the prospect of making such a map is far beyond my ability to .. want to do it now.
Perhaps later... but most likely no

Well, I spent many hours in a German airport once, and though I never left the airport I found a German article on Prince and saw many security folks with machine guns. So it was still an experience.

\ No but Atlanta is probably a main hub for some airline like Minneapolis is the main hub for NorthWest Airlines.

i've only been on 1 flight that didn't stop in atlanta and that was florida to nicaragua. every other one has. places i "haven't" been would be SLC, Utah and Quito, Ecuador. I left the airport in Quito but it was late and we just went to some bars, then left on a boat early in the morn to head to the galapagos

Thought about this topic again this year since I "didn't" visit a few places again while on vacation. So instead of starting a new thread I figured I'd just revive this one and update my list. Adding 2 stops in England and 1 in Texas to the list this year.

I had 4 hours to kill in Amsterdam on a Sunday morning en route home. So of course i went into town on the train and kinda realised that coffee shops wouldnt get much business at 6/7am sunday. I found a shop that claimed to open at 8am everyday. I was cutting it thin, my train back to the airport was at 8.10am and my flight was at 9.30am.
I spent about 6 minutes banging on the front door of this place with no luck, no space cakes for me!!

i'd say you were in guayaquil (where i grew up)...
other than that... great, man! i think you are the only shroomerite i know that has been to ecuador... gotta love those galápagos islands... blew my mind when i was there!
