Son of a scientolobitch...ahem..gist.
Description: A 1983 article about Ron Hubbard's father. Is scientolgy a sham...?
Ron Jr. also recalls a hard-drinking, drug-abusing father who would mistreat his mother and other women, but who, when, under the influence, would delight in telling his son all of his exploits. Finally, Ron Jr. remembers his father as a "broke science-fiction writer" who espoused that the road to riches and glory lay in selling religion to the masses.
Ya, probably.

Scientology has been proven to be a sham many many many times over. The legend is that there was a $500 bet between L. Ron Hubbard and Arthur C. Clark that LRH could start a religion and that's what has grown into modern Scientology.

Indeed it has been. Its growth over the years never ceases to amaze me. I guess P.T. Barnum was right.....

That's like being prejudice against Moses and the Jews!
Though humorously enough, that is a tactic reports say Scientologists deploy. They accuse those who speak badly of Scientology as being the same as anti-Semites.

Everytime I see a movie with Tom Cruise or John Travolta in it, one of the foremost thoughts of my mind is that these actors are Scientologists.
At least Hubbard wasn't matyred... as we've seen in other mainstream cults, matyred idiots get a lot more followers than unmatyred intelligent philosophers.

Do you think they really believe in it or do you think they are doing it because its the hip thing to do in hollywood? I think they are doing it as some kind of fashion statement. Kind of like how madona and all here girl friends are supposed to be into kabbalah I think she started it because it had a cool hand tattoo she could use in here video and it grew from there. These actors were their religions its kind of funny really. Like why should we even care what they believe in? They act for a living lol.

Maybe Scientologists try extra hard to recruit celebrities because they're good spokesmen.
