Shroomy Smell
    #433806 - 10/22/01 11:26 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

Ive got a few jars growing in my apartment up on a shelf. It is a small apartment and today it developed a smell akin to cedar mulch. Not very strong and actually quite pleasant. I traced the smell back to my jars which are about 7 days old and about 30% colonized. I have to sniff hard from the jars to catch it though, And they arent showing signs of contamination, just some discoloration (see Perlite Substrate Topic). This is my first time growing shrooms, so I'm not exactly familiar with the shroom smell. Is this normal?

yes, shrooms and mycelium do have a very distinct (and enjoyable) smell. i still am keeping an eye open for you and your perlite substrate, i have no idea how that can be working

Mental!

I love that smell... it's frustrating trying to cop a whiff through my dust mask... it's the smell of success!
