water droplets in jar
    #4323944 - 06/22/05 09:51 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

the mycellium has almost completely enveloped the brown rice/vermiculite mix...after the growth had stalled out, the jar lid was taken off to allow some oxygen to get in there...but now large droplets of water have accumulated around the inside of the jar...is this a problem? i thought i remembered reading that it was, but i can't seem to find where...

thanks

Wait till the JAr is abouyt 90% do0ne then Flip the JAr over to exchange Gas's!

You shouldnt have to remove the Lid at all untill ready to fruit/Dunk

And Water Droplets shouldnt be a big problem if it's not outta control!

I usually will get quite a few droplet's ontop of the jar after I have flipped em over!!

Just try and LEave them be till 90-95% then if it starts to stall

FLIP EM OVA!

Big Pools of water and whatnot are great breeding grounds for Contams!:whack:

droplets can actually be good though. what they did for me is i turned the jars upside down to obviously get more air inside and the water droplets fell down the side and into the vermiculite filter layer. as soon as i birthed the cake an assload of shrooms started growing of that layer. so that was where my first flush began. I didn't even scrape any of the verm off the cake and produced a lot of mushiees. i then placed the cake directly on the perlite and the verm mst have continued to suck of the water and grew even more mushrooms.

I'm in the same boat... have 95% colonized and now seeing water build up. Flipping the jars over would be a good idea? What is you plan to spawn then case from the cakes and not directly off of them.

Its taking so long for these jars to finish but I'm so close... I want to kick their ass's in gear for spawning.

i usually flip and tap my jars when the myc reaches the bottom, but the myc sometimes eats the casing layer i would assume because of moisture. Its never really been a problem for me but i am unaware of whether or not it hurts any aspect of the process. I just dont notice any harm.
