Officer gets Quarter Pounder laced with meth

DESLOGE, Mo. (AP) The police officer's Quarter Pounder with Cheese tasted a little funny, and for good reason: It was laced with methamphetamine. The incident happened in December in Desloge, Mo., about 50 miles southwest of St. Louis, but was not made public until yesterday.

Police Chief James Bullock told KMOV-TV in St. Louis that the officer went to McDonald's the day after Christmas and bought the sandwich, then took it back to the police station.

"He thought it tasted kind of funny so he looked at the burger," Bullock said. "It looked like it had a foreign substance on it."

The burger was sent to the Missouri Highway Patrol crime lab for testing and tested positive for meth.

In a statement from McDonald's, John McCook, who owns and operates the Desloge restaurant, said safety and well-being of customers and employees "is always is our top priority." He said the chain is fully cooperating with the investigation.

No charges have been filed, though Bullock said a young man who used to work at the restaurant is being scrutinized. That man's friends had trouble with the same officer years ago.

Missouri is among the nation's hardest-hit states in terms of meth production and arrests. Police in Desloge and the surrounding counties make hundreds of meth arrests every year.

You can't know that the guy wasn't buying the sandwich for a little kid, or that he might feed the left-over to a puppy.

You've got a great point here. It would be much more effective to just bash the pig's face in with a blunt object. There's no way he can give that to a kid or a puppy. I don't condone such behavior but it would ensure that the intended target was struck.

Just because politicians are pricks and have outlawed drugs for personal gain is no reason to assume that all cops are bad. Granted, I have had to deal with my fair share of asshole cops... but at the same time, I have had the pleasure to deal with a fair share of decent cops... like any occupation, they have bad apples, but they are not all bad.

Give the guy props? For trying to drug somebody against their will? Idiots like him are the fuel the politicians use to keep drugs illegal. Would you still give the guy props if the cop, after eating his burger, had a heart attack and slammed his police car into your sister while she was walking across the street, killing her as well?

Yep... props to irresponsible drug use... help keep drugs illegal by showing people how stupid drug users can be. Thanks, way to go!

It was just speed. Assuming it was not an OD most that would happen is the cop getting wired and euphoric for the rest of the day. And eventually getting a sleepless night.

I'd much rather being dosed with meth than with any type of bodily fluids :puke:
In fact i don't think i would mind at all if someone would slip me a proper dose of meth in my morning coffee. I reckon i'd be much more productive that day :grin:

Exactly what I want... a cop with a loaded gun running around with a head full of meth. (Things are a bit different in real life than what you see on TV.)

Do they drug test police? If so, I have never heard of it being done. Besides, it is pretty easy to identify meth addicts, for the most part... no fat, no muscle, no teeth, sunken eyes, etc...

What i meant by that was that speed isn't really a super mind bending high.

I obviously do not condone feeding drugs to people, but if the guy really wanted to give the cop a bad time there were better options than meth.

Seuss is right though, a dedicated armed cop under methamphetamine wouldn't really be nice to watch.

i would hope they drug test poloce every now and then, even if its the "random drug tests" us comon people are so used to these days. and im sure theres cops addicted to drugs out there, somewhere....and ive known quite a few meth addicts that were good at hiding their addiction, for a while anyway. im not saying its the case here, just that it could be a possiblitily....

maybe my attitude towards cops is a little biased, but anything is possible these days :shrug:

You aren't entirely wrong to be biased. Every occupation has bad apples, but for some reason, bad apples seem to really enjoy being cops.
