Children and Concerts
    #4290851 -

I was at a classical concerto on Saturday (Rachmaninoff's 3rd concerto was the highlight of the evening, all the movements took up the entire second act).

Right near the end of the credenza and the softest spoken part, a baby starts crying!!!

A group of menonite women had brought their children to the concert and one of them was feeding their baby in the middle of the performance and that baby later started to cry.  To make it worse, the baby and mother were sitting on the balcony and the cries were poured down onto us with the incredible accoustics of the church.

At that moment I was so enraged at that child, I considered telling off the mother and ask her why she thought it was approriate to bring her child and not either
A)  Get one of her many other spawn to babysit
B)  Get her husband to sit the child
C)  *gasp*HIRE A BABYSITTER AND GO OUT FOR THE EVENING!

What's your experience with children at concerts been?
Does it depend on the venue or artist or should children under 12 be banned from live performances?

I go to death metal concerts.. and sometimes I see babies there being held by their mothers.. Its different with death metal, but still why the hell would u bring a baby to a concert. I bet the ones I saw are probly now half deaf from being right infront of the speakers.

The only concerts I have beeen to were rock concerts. A crying baby wouldnt even be noticed.

Now, at a movie theater.......thats a different story. :mad2:

I constantly have that issue in movies.

We went to go see Sin City not too long ago, and this couple brought their toddler into it.

Who bring a toddler into a movie that violent?!

That's why you should always bring a bat to classic concerts.

A classical music concert, well, that's a beautiful thing to take a young child to.

But a parent should only do it if they know their child can keep quiet. And at the first sign of crying, they should IMMEDIATELY walk out to the back area.

Maybe they should concentrate less on commenting on people's clothing, and more on some respect and considerationf or those trying to enjoy some music around them.

Any child that is still in diapers/being bottle fed....should NOT be brought to events like that.

It should be the law

I don't mind as long as the baby cries in key.

You should have started making love with your friend right in front of them. Like, find their car and skeet on the hood.

Yeah, I think if I was going to bring a child anywhere, a classical performance would be the most appropriate, however I wouldn't bring a baby. A baby doesn't care, you have little control over a baby, and they just bitch and shit. And if I did bring a baby, RIGHT when it cried, I would just go home. No cooing the baby into silence and then coming back in, just go home. You're done.
