What kind of plant is this?! (Pic)
    #4279865 -

This plant has been catching my attention a lot lately and for some reason I believe it's psychoactive. I get this feeling every time I look at it. It really stands out. Maybe I've seen it before on erowid or somewhere on the net. Perhaps it's related to the Datura family? Anyone know?

Well the lower hairy leaves and the stem resemble brugmansia. The curly top leaves don't, but maybe the plant is just thirsty.

I thought Brugmansia was the same as Angels Trumpet.... I have an Angels Trumpet in the back yard and it looks nothing like this.

The stalk and where the stems come out look similar to Brugmansia, but the leaves look odd and unhealthy, so maybe you can't see how they are pointy. Stretch a leaf out to make it flat on your hand and see if it has points on the edges.

Angels Trumpet is usually considered Datura (althought i've seen brugmansias labeled angels trumpet). Brugmansia was long thought to be Datura, but now they are seperate. The flowers are similar (although some brugmansia flowers are outstanding), but the leaves and plant itself are different. Brugmansia is sometimes called tree datura, as it can reach heights above 7 feet if i remember correctly. The brug i bought my girlfriend is moody :p

DAtura: annual, herbacious, small plant.

Brugmansia: perennial, woody, BIG plant when mature.

Like LiveByFreedom said, the flowers are very similar, that's why they also call them 'angel's trumpets'.

That bruggie is my grampa's. I'll have to go water his plants tomorow, if ya like i'll take a detailed pic of its leaves so you can compare.

So, are not all brugmansias leaves pointing on the edges?

I believe they are. The lower healthy leaves in his plant look pointy to me.

This variety isn't particularly fuzzy, but i've seen much fuzzier brugs.

In spite of the pics i believe you can only get a positive ID once it blooms.
Although very much psychoactive, it is definitely not something to be taken lightly. I guess you can wait for the blooms to be 100% sure about the ID.
