the far side is so much better than calvin and hobbes!

as a funny side note, calvin and hobbes is called 'steen and stoffer' in scandinavia - stoffer also means 'stuff', and is a slang term for drugs. particularly heroin. hehe, poor unsuspecting children.

The only thing that burns in Hell is the part of you that won't let go of life, your memories, your attachments. They burn them all away. But they're not punishing you, they're freeing your soul. So, if you're frightened of dying and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away, but if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the earth...

I loooove Far Side. You know the one where the Turkey dresses up as the cat and the family's eating the cat stuffed in the turkey? that always made me laugh.

The Far Side and Calvin and Hobbes can't be compared...neither one's better, they're totally their own things

there is this comic called 'speed bump' that is sort of a pseudo-far side, but not nearly as funny.

another good comic artist with a similar sense of humour as gary larson is the great robert crumb. i love his work.

I have a book called TRiPS about drugs, and Robert Crumb does a bunch of the drawings in it.

You can't forget Garfield! You got it right about those being up at the top, though. :thumbup:The Far Side rocks! I like the one with the two mosquitos and the one is huge and about to burst, while the other one is saying, "Pull out, Betty! Pull out!! You have hit an artery!"

I have that book.  Well...I used to have that book.  I lent it to an ex-boyfriend and never got it back.  :frown:  I loved it.

I had little notes all over it and photocopies of all the great comics.

I've been a huge fan since I was in 5th grade, Gary Larson was fucking brilliant. I actually have a Far Side calendar in my room.

It's a fun little book that's for sure. There's one page that has 16 different versions of a cartoon character they asked people to draw while on acid, compared with the original sketch that they gave to the people. They're all soooo trippy.

I liked Crumb's comics, but I found that documentary/biography to be boring as hell! Just my opinion.

I was getting sheets back in the day that were coming from Dead tour that had the Shakedown Street guy, spinning his pocket watch. Did Crumb draw that guy? I was thinking that he did. That cid was potent, too.

I have all of the farside anthologies, there is never a sadder moment for me then when I'm nearing the end of a book.
