first hunt since all the rain
    #4252736 -

I was only out for 30 minutes before another thunderstorm rolled in. This is what I found. These were all in a cow field....mostly under the tree line. The 2 large ones were in the open pasture. I have a crappy camera so, bear with me. If anyone sees anything non edible, please feel free to share the info! Thanks!!!

There is a smaller mushroom laying horizontal over by the cubes(bottom left) of collection.  it is the ONLY mushroom laying horizontal, that one does not appear to be a cube because it looks as though the gills are white(cubes have dark/black gills).  You have some cubes and some nonactive Pans that I cant make out, and the big white one is Pan. Antillarum(not active).  Make sure the cubes stain/bruise blue and drop black/brown/purplish spores, spore prints are needed obviously.
describing your finds is a must in order to properly ID them, so dont eat any of them until you describe them better.  There is a sticky at the top of the hunting forum for quick ID tips, its recommended to read that and describe your finds in that manner.
Not a bad haul for only 30 minutes!  :mushroom2:

thank you thank you thank you! I was dying for some input. I through out all the ones with white or tannish gills. I have the field guide hallucinogenic and poisonous mushrooms(my new bible) the cubes' stems turned blue where I pinched them off. The ones that looked similar to cubes but, didn't bruise blue..I through out. The large white one, I spotted about 150 feet away (i was really hoping it was active)...it was all by its lonesome. Same with the large cube. Anyway, I would've gotten a lot more if it hadn't started pouring again. Thank you so much for the information. It is greatly appreciated.

No, I've found cubes with off-white gills, it's just because they were babies, they grew right underneath the perfect cubes, in fact. Sometimes they're just not active yet because it's a new flush.

In fact, I just picked today, got like 5 baby cubes, bruised blue, had every other trait of a cube, grew right under other perfect cube specimens, but didn't have dark gills.

Mitch says one of the mushrooms is a cube, and if you look at the gills, they're not dark at all. If your cubes lack a dark color, but still have the other traits of a cube, they COULD be a cube, it takes experience to tell..

the ones with the light colored gills didn't bruise blue....would they still be considered cubes?

Don't risk it.

I would only eat them if they exhibited all the characteristics of a cube, except maybe the lack of color in the gills, because sometimes a new flush or baby cubes just won't have dark colored gills.

if you want an accurate ID, post a close-up, and let 'nast or someone ID it.

you have a mixed collection.

you appear to have some 'fake' or 'look-a-like' cubies in your collection,
so be sure to check for bluing on each and every mushroom.
toss out anything that does not blue.

the other single mushroom with the white cap is the non-active Panaeolus antillarum.

and the rest of the bunch are from the non-active Panaeolus campanulatus group.
