Fuck Lowes.  Support Home Depot instead.  My wife works at Home Depot and I'd like to see her stock options go up! :grin:

I doubt it. There is a huge rivalry between the two companies. And they compete in the same markets, building stores that affect each others bussiness. But stranger things have happened.

As far as starting pay goes...the wife says someone w/o any experience could probably get in around 8 or 9 an hour. Part-timers make more than full-timers to start out. And they do offer benefits for part-time employment now also.

Make one huge hardware store, watch half the mom & pop hardware stores disappear.

Make two huge hardware stores, watch them all disappear.


There was some big fuss in my town about building a Lowe's because there was a Home Depot already.. so they built it right over the town line.

Good point. Didn't think about that. And the wife says everyone who is hired negotiates their own starting pay. So if you suck at negotiations you could be doing the same job as the guy next to you and getting payed less for it.

Lowes knows, hoes. As well as good starting pay and advancement opportunity. Around here there are Lowes springing up everywhere right next to Home Depots and slowly putting them out of business. I really like the Home Depot garden center, but if I am getting anything hardware, I go to Lowe's.
