wow this movie really impressed me. a great story, and really interesting look at corporations and the US govt. leonardo dicaprio also gained a whole lot of my respect, he really did a good job in that role. i mean you just believed that he was howard hughes. the old 30s hollywood stuff was kind of cool too.

yeah it is a pretty good movie, saw it the other night. I had no idea Howard Hughes was so bat shit crazy...i guess i didn't know much about him. After i saw the movies though i did a little research on him...what is know about him is pretty interesting. There's alot that isn't know though like what he was doing for the last 20 years of his life. That's why the movie ends with him so young cuz not much else is know. Apparently he lived in seclusion for two decades..probably addicted to heroin and morphine. I read that when they autopsied him they x-rayed his body and found about a dozen needle tips broken off inside his arms and legs.

I knew a guy (he went to church with me when I was a kid) who was one of Hughes bussiness assistants in the latter years when Hughes was getting wacky. He told all kinds of crazy stories about HH. Once when my father and I were at his house he told us a story about completing a bussiness transaction for HH. He got on a plane and flew somewhere to deliver a handwritten check from HH. Then he produced a photocopy of the check for us to see. It was in HH's own handwriting and was made out for some god-awful amout of money. I don't remember the exact amount but it was something like 12 million and change.

When HH died he got a lump of money from the estate, something like 250 thousand. He proceeded to lose most of it on a bad bussiness deal of some kind and was working as a painter when I knew him. He was in his 50's by then and this was 20 years ago. I haven't seen him in almost that long.
