Possible active mushrooms (New Zealand)
    #4213153 - 05/24/05 03:25 AM (18 years, 10 months ago)

I found some mushrooms growing on a tree stump, i also think there was soil under them. These were growing in the bush, with pine trees and some native trees.
Any way is it possible that these are active? i dont want to no what they might be active. if they could be active i'll post up a better desciption, like spore print etc

First post a proper description, then we can tell if it might be active.

They definitely look interesting but I can hardly see them at all in those pics. Try to get some better pics and a description of course.

Ok, i'll get some better photos, some time next week, as i didn't take the mushrooms from the spot i found them in. though ive only got a crappy cell phone to take pics with.
i will also give a better description as well, when i go back to the spot to get them. They do bruise blue, so that's a good sign.
i hope these are active, ive never tried magic mushrooms before, ive always wanted to though.
thanks for the posts guys.

They were growing on, or under a tree stump, i think there could have been soil under them though. Sorry, no spore print, didn't have enough time to get the mushrooms to take home, as i was with another person, that i don't want them to no what I'm doing.
I was in a hurry, so didn't look at the mushrooms properly, not quit sure if the stems were hollow, though i think they were, could be wrong though. Next week i'll go up their by myself, get better details, spore print etc. and take some of the mushrooms home.
Yep, i do no that they bruise blue.

Those could well be psilocybe aucklandii, though I'm not sure if those usually have such a pronounced nipple. I've seen some 'lookalike' shrooms around growing off mossy logs like that, their caps look just like that, except when you turn em over their stems and gills are an organey brown, unlike the shrooms in those pics. Go back and find em and get some better pics / info / spore print. Good luck!
