I don't think it's always one way, or the other way. Depends on the situation.

With my girlfriend and I...I don't know. We're just working out our space right now, not like space from each other, but just ourselves apart from ourselves as a unit. I'm at a point right now where I'd like to explore psychedelia more, and she isn't necessarily in the same boat.

It's been two strong and powerful years, and now's just a very transitional time for the both of us but no matter how much this jockeying for our own space goes on, we always remain best friends. I'm just trying to take myself seriously as a writer is a big part of it, and writing is a lonely lonely thing, it's no group activity, IMO.

This would be a great opportunity though for us to like test the strength of our relationship (and I'm sure it'll pass the test). Like me going off to do all the things that lately make her uncomfortable, but on my own, while she has her own weekend of shows (and there's a few great concerts in NYC that weekend she could go to).
