Well, one should have to know how concentrated the liquid ME is.
If it would be 100% = dry then you?t have to take 20 g.

If the liquid one has a concentration of 70% then you have to take 20g x 100% / 70% = 28.6 g

and so on...

I have found that any amount of malt extract between 25 and 40 ml works fine. Flat sided bottles like prescription bottles or whisky bottles laid on their sides work better than petri dishes for long term cultivation. They don't dry out or contam as easily. Firm agar works better than thin so you might want to use more than 20 grams of agar. 25 to 30 grams is a good amount. And, I don't know why, but agar in shallow layers works better than deep layers. I like to add extra agar but pour the plates (bottles) extra thin.

I use malt syrup agar and I use 1 big tablespoon per 500ml (2 cups) of water. Works great.
