Too much sugar, too little protein. Malt extract may be good as a supplement but not as a sole source of nutrients.

Here's a nutritional label from malt extract One tablespoon (4g) has 4g of sugar and 0g of protein.

Here's a nutritional label for Brown Rice Flour 1/4 cup (40g) has 31g carbohydrates, 0g sugar, 3g of protein and 1g fiber. Brown rice flour has a more 'well rounded' nutritional profile.

Now if you were to use malted barley flour (not the extract) that would be a different story. Here's a nutritional label from malted barley flour. 1/4 cup (30g) has 20g carbohydrates, 3g sugar, 4g protein and 3g fiber

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.
