Green Mycelium?
    #411599 - 10/02/01 06:42 PM (22 years, 5 months ago)

I hope this stuff is not mold. Okay, its been a while now. I thought that I would do something different with my second casing, so I decided to sterilize some more potting soil in the oven and put that on top of the crumbled cakes so it could get more nutrients and water for this stage of growth even tho it would take longer. I heard that composts are good, so I threw got a slice of avocado and mashed it up really good and then mixed it with the sterilized soil and threw it back in the oven for more sterilization. It wasn't a whole lot of soil (around and inch in a pound cake aluminum pan) and it sat in the oven between 10 and 15 minutes at 450?. On this same day, I put some honey and water in a jar and a couple chunks of mycelium and today the top layer is all colonized lol. Okay, could the mycelium have HINT a SLIGHT HINT of green because of the avocado..?

:frown: .. what was i saying..? Time for a cigarette.

Is there a smell? And can you like wipe off the green with a finger or something, is it powdery? if so, then youve got trich.

How for gods sake could a avocado do any good in the casing mixture?

i didnt put it in the casing mixture. i put more soil for the mycelium to grow and have more nutrients and water to grow into AFTER i cased it and on top of that was the casing mixtured which consisted of : Jiffy Mix lol i thought rotting stuff was good for fungus

Well, the casing mixture is to be on top.
Forget the avocado.
You shouldn?t be experimenting so much untill you have repeatedly managed to grow some shrooms.

if it started off bright white, then it's starting to turn green, and it is growing very fast, then it's mold.

okay. i found out that it was not mycelium yesterday... this hurts.. that fucking casing has been sitting there forever, but then again i did put a whole layer of soil to colonize so its my fault i have to wait. i took off the top layer of the jiffy mix. i saw cobwebs beginning to form and directly below (1mm or so) the top layer, there were no roots or anything, so this green shit was .. green shit. why are people acting like babies about the cum substrate? OHOOO  AHAAA A PENIS HAHA AND AND HAH AND DUH... AHND SOME SPERMIES AHAHHAH OH NO THATS YUCKY. shut up ill eat my fucking cum if i want to, even tho i didnt put my cum or any other animal's cum in there this time... that jar of water and honey is doing good! the whole top is foamy white and the little chunks under the water are all colonized and shit lol this is fun haha hmm i forgot what i was going to say..  thanks for your help.. whoever.. helped at all.. thanks for trying atleast!

:frown: .. what was i saying..? Time for a cigarette.

I couldnt tell from your reply if your honey water does indeed have cum in it or not. but if it doesnt, there isnt supposed to be anything 'foamy white' floating on top, and if it does it will dry out and become crusty and can introduce contaminations, you should be shaking/twirling your honey water at least daily.

SHOULD i be swirling that water?.. hmm thanks. you have done this before?
