BioHazard bags?
    #4097447 - 04/26/05 12:09 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

I've got a shitload of biohazard bags.

Are ALL biohazard bags autoclavable?

How hot does an autoclave need to be?

I can test them out in the oven, in some aluminum foil, in case they melt.

These are 2mil polyethylene bags. The only thing that bothers me about them is that they have a micro-perforated top so they can be torn open easily. Do you think the perforations would allow contams to pass through during incubation?

These are the bags I have:

If you are worried about those holes, seal em up stoner stlye. Take your lighter and melt the plastic, pinch it, and bam, no more holes.

if ur going to pc them test them in the pc. I wouldn't try them in the oven because if u don't have water chances are it might still melt.

The one I put in the oven for 15 min @ 260F melted... I'll try to pc one tomorrow. I have a feeling that all biohazard bags are not created equally.

Polyethylene is not as resistant to heat as polypropylene

Most stuff put in biohazard bags ends up incinerated.
