Mellowed them out too much imo. I had 5150 and OU812 but ultimately they sucked w/o Roth :yesnod:

Imo, Sammy was a lot more in his element with (Ronnie) Montrose, in fact if you'll note the first Van Halen was produced by Ted Templeman, the same guy that produced the first(at least, maybe the 2nd as well) Montrose album. A couple of the songs on the first Van Halen were rearrangements of songs on the first Montrose album(you might better know Ronnie better from his days with Edgar Winter and "Frankenstein") :yesnod:

funny you bring up Montrose.

Yeah Sammy was in his element when he was with Montrose...I was upset when he left Montrose.

I used to listen to Montrose...when I was growing up.

Rock Candy...awsome song.

I have a rare bootleg of Rock Candy...it's one of my favorite Montrose songs.

Did you ever hear any of the solo Hagar Lp's? He swung a wicked axe, as far as notes per second goes anyway, melodic content was another thing though  :crazy:
