I used to do martial arts, and my master taught me various breathing exercises, focusing on posture and arm movements. I would breath in with my hands moving towards me and breath out with my hands pushing away. I do this in several different directions with my eyes closed and then I usually get a tingling sensation in my fingertips. I asked my master what this was and he told me its supposed to happen and that its a sign that im doing it right. Does anyone know what this tingly feeling is? I wouldnt be suprised if this was the same sensation felt through other breathing exercises like Tai Chi and whatnot. I cant really tell if this feeling is spiritual or biological. Can someone help me clarify?
I don't know what causes the tingly feeling, but it is very common with any form of progressive relaxation. I suspect that as the mind becomes more calm, we become aware of sensations that are always present but usually not sensed because of all chaos around us. As you more accustom to this state, and with practice, the tingly feeling will spread throughout your entire body.
