Baltimore breaks are the shit.  I used to have a really cool tape with Balt. breaks, ghetto tek, and miami bass all mixed together.  Good shit.  :thumbup:

DJ FUNK? Oh yea

I was at this club in DC called THE EDGE. DJ Funk was supposed to go in at 1am. 2:30am rolls up and ppl are getting antsy. DJ Funk gets up on the mic and starts yelling in his lovely ebonic speak:

"I was supposed to SPIN for you muthafuckas. I set my rekkids here a while ago and some bitch stole my rekkids!"

Then he says "Bitch done stole my rekkids"

he starts repeating it... the crowd starts clapping and stomping to it, making a beat.... so we ended up making our own music... DJ Funk yelling phonetically "BITCH DUN STOLE MY REKKIDS" while the crowd banged out a 4/4 140bpm beat.

Good times.

Funk's not Baltimore breaks, he produces booty house- in Chicago.

When I think balt. breaks, I think of producers like JackMaster Wood, Eric Travis, etc....

I've seen DJ Funk 3 or 4 times. Once he did a live PA for half an hour, then spun for an hour. He's cool, and get's the crowd moving, but his set is always the same or very similar. Also, it sounds like one of his CD's.

I'm trying to acquire more ghetto tek, but I hardly ever buy vinyl these days, and when I do, it's always drum-n-bass. I'd still like to put together a set of some freaky tek shit.

Is far as bmore breaks.. I'm more into Technics and Quicksilva. Too bad they're recist. My white friend used to spin bmore breaks. Everytime he went into Technics' rekkid shop, he'd get the cold shoulder.
