Jus planted some poppies! Question....
    #4031391 -

Got some papaver's going in 3 large growing pots outside.

Will I be able to leave them in the pots their whole life or will I be better off transferring them to the ground after they get big?

It would be nice to not have to leave my porch for pod removal.

I just planted some today as well, in 5 strategic areas in the woods around my house. I am pretty sure you'll want to transfer them to a larger area when the leaves start to get somewhat big, poppies like to have space. Check out the grow guides on erowid though, thats what I used. Also, good luck with your grow, I hope to be seeing that opium dripping out at some point.  :smirk:

I don't know about florida specifics, but i wouldn't be suprised if you got a bunch of plants comming up. Did you sow onto grass, or just dirt, or disturbed earth, if any landed on disturbed earth there is a better chance of germination. If they were all on grass there is still a chance, though not as great a chance as disturbed earth.

im in so cal, i ordered 5000 seeds online (find it on eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeebay)i plan on being a lazy stoner and basically tossing em on the ground.
considering the time of year, and where I live, does anyone have any ideas if this is a good idea? I am going to grind away at the earth with a little claw thing for breaking it up, first.

I hate to put the eeeeeeeee!! in eBay for you but the going rate is $5 to $20 for a MILLION poppy seeds, literally. (if you talk Nigrums, blue seeds)
What did you pay?

Those precious poppyseeds you paid so dearly for should be given some care. Don't toss them on the soil or you may end up with nothing.
Disturb the soil, either with one of those pocketsized rakes or a fork for all I care and you might get 4.500 of them to grow to adult poppies.

5.000 poppyseeds can plant 10x10 meters/yards of dense poppyfield so no matter what you paid the harvest can render the cost insignificant. If you got a fancy poppy or a Taz then it's a good investment even if it cost $5 for that mere 5 grams

they're a supermarket item and san diego is huge! Poppyseed is used in baking, try a bakery if all else fails.
