Suggestions?
    #4016414 - 04/05/05 09:11 AM (19 years, 16 days ago)

Recently I had to get rid of my 3 cats, and I find myself missing them soooo much.  I want to get a pet, but it has to be one that is either always contained, or mostly contained.  It has to require minimal attention, as I work all day, and it can't be big, or make too much of a mess, because Suffer has way too much clutter as it is   I was thinking of some kind of cool fish, or frogs, or a cool reptile or amphibian.  But I want something with a personality, that I can play with when I'm home....anyone have any good ideas??

A dolphin is a cool fish with a personality and you can play with it!

Unfortunately, I don't think a dolphin could live in our apartment.  I want something cooler than a goldfish...and I play with his "one eyed trouser trout" as you so eloquently put it, quite often.  :smirk:  I as referring to something that will enoyed me playing with it, that can be left alone while I'm at work, and that I don't have to clean up after too too much.

Edit:  fuck, I just validated your point.  :frown:

Well frogs and reptiles don't really have much personality..
You are referring to what is known as a "dog".. but they require attention and do enjoyed being played with but sometimes you have to clean up after them, unless they are trained.. or live outside all the time.. which sucks.

As a last resort... you could always get a penguin. Nothing is cooler than a penguin. But you need a big freezer

I do want a dog...when we buy a house with a big yard and lots of room for it to roam, then we'll get one.  But right now that's just not possible unfortunately.  A penguin is a good idea, but the freezer is full of french fries, ice cream, frosty mugs, and I think a few hits of acid in there somewhere  :crazy2:  Maybe I'll get a mouse.

That's the coolest pet! And you really don't need a big freezer. Most penguins fit perfect in this freezer:

*gross

I, for some reason, am fine with mice, but rats gross me out.  I think it's the tail   Maybe a hermit crab.  I would name him Herbert, after my grandfather. Plus, I think Herbert the hermit crab has a nice ring to it.

I knew someone who had a fish who jumped out of the water (+-20cm) if you held some food above its aquarium. That was a cool trick. Don't remember the name of the fish though.

Mice have tails too you know.. I just said rats because I've seen people have rats as pets but never a mouse. I don't know why.. but rats seems cooler to me.

Oh and you can't go wrong with a monkey. Until they go crazy...

When I was in 11th grade, the senior class above me pulled a prank right before graduation, and let loose about 200 white mice, and a few large rats in the school.  People were panicking and stepping on them, killing them, in general freaking out.  I grabbed as many little white mice as I could (probably like 30)  and threw them in my locker so that they wouldn't get crushed.  I brought 29 of them back to the pet store, but the 30th one refused to leave my backpack when I went to drop him off.  So I kept him.  He was trained like you wouldn't believe...all summer that mouse and I were inseperable.  I'd go to parties, and the mouse would sit on my shoulder and eat crackers, and wouldn't budge.  I could walk down the street with him in my sweatshirt pocket, and he loved it.  And he wouldn't go to the bathroom until I took him out of my pocket, and he certainly wouldn't go on my shoulder.  Then my mouse died  :frown:  This is why I am hesitant to get another mouse...I'm not sure it would ever be as cool as Templeton.

Rats or mice are good pets, or so I've heard. And they don't make large messes....

That's a touching story really.. but mice breed like.... mice, they are all pretty much the same.. you could find one even cooler than Templeton.
