If they're sitting directly on the perlite, that can happen.

I suggest changing the light to 12 on/ 12 off using a timer and if you need extra heat, buy (borrow) a small space heater. Having 24 hrs of light is no good. I find that 'shrooms do most of there growing during the dark cycle. Anyone else find this to be true?

I've noticed this:
Cakes which are sitting on edge on top of a lid will often start pinning first underneath where it is darkest. My elves have pointed this out to me too often for it to be a fluke.
In nature, most mushrooms start in total darkness under the soil, moss, dung or other substrate. Their growth is triggered solely by temp and humidity levels.
I bet there are lots of mushrooms on the dark side of the moon!
