THREE Sydney men have faced court after police in the New South Wales Hunter Valley seized drugs with an estimated street value of $5 million
Police arrested the men and took possession of more than 5kg of methylamphetamine in a raid on a remote property at Wollombi, in the Lower Hunter, early on Tuesday.
Two men, aged 35 and 19, both of Wentworthville, a 20-year-old Granville man and a 34-year-old man from Merrylands were charged with manufacturing a large commercial quantity of a prohibited drug.
They appeared at Cessnock Local Court yesterday and were refused bail to appear at Newcastle Local Court today.
The raid followed a two-month covert investigation that uncovered three illicit drug labs producing methylamphetamine, police said.
Large quantities of precursor pseudoephedrine that had been extracted from cold and flu tablets were found, as well as other ingredients and equipment used to manufacture high quality speed, otherwise known as ice.
It is the third drug lab seized in the past week in NSW.
Methylamphetamine labs were found at Walcha and Warrawong earlier this year.
