Leader of the world???

My alarm clock went off this morning and i woke up to some woman with a talk radio show saying something along the lines of this:
the editor of the washington post, went to china and was interviewed by china's biggest newspaper. when asked "do you think the United States should be the leader of the world?" this man replid "no, the world is too complex to be run by a single country. the day the U.S. is the leader of the world will be a very sad day for the rest of the world"
well i thought this was a great answer.. but the woman whose show this was sounded absolutely disgusted by this. her argument went something like this:
well who would you like to replace us then? france? hahaha germany? they started 2 world wars in the last century so we certainly cant put them in control. china? no, they're still communist as far as i know. how about russia? they nearly annihilated us a decade ago!
This woman was absolutely convinced that the world needed to be lead by one country. and that the washington post editor's comments on that subject were "foolish and unamerican".
well, ladies and gentlemen, apparently the definition of Unamerican is: fairness and decency.
I couldn't believe my ears. I wanted to call in and say "Bitch, if you lived in any other country you would have the exact opposite opinion on this subject!"
what do you guys think? think the U.S. should be the world leader? or can we possibly live fulfilled lives without having to be in total control of everyone and everything?

No, the USA should not be the leader of the world. Unfortunately Bush and his PNAC cronies that he is flooding his administration with don't see it that way and think they are too high and mighty to listen to their constituents.

You can't give the world a leader, that's just wrong.

If any group/country decided to lead the world, I would imagine it would be the UN, and they would become the uber country. They would create uber empires, make uber currency, and turn the world to ruin.

With that said in respects to the UN... it's not going to happen as long as it is disenfranchised in it's current state... with no real power behind it's decisions... and it's band of permanent members that have authority and the final say...
Essentially we're already setup as the leader of the world... (USA) We just don't put that in that blunt of terms... Look at our actions... look at those that get in our way... look at how we can override a coalition of countries--the UN itself... You'd be lying to yourselves if you suggested otherwise.
Not too mention that Bush put a man in charge of the World Bank recently that... has no experience in banking... I was listening to a radio show that pointed out the benefit of that though... As someone that has no experience in banking whatsoever wouldn't know how to properly steal from a bank ... so, at least one good thing is comming from this incompetance.

Ermmm we're just toying with them... supposedly Sadam Hussein had WMD's yet we readily attacked him knowing that he didn't..
Beyond that.... it means nothing, we attack them in other ways, till they destroy themselves, through economic warfare... Look at Russia's demise... passive warfare. Look at Cuba and the trade Embargo... other forms of warfare are equally powerful provided we can give unilateral say and tell other countries not to trade with them.
Iraq wouldn've fallen as well if it weren't trading off it's oil for 'shit' from France among other countries... Why do you think the French leaders were so obstinate about US invading the country? They had a lot to lose... just as we have a lot to gain...

This world doesn't need war, poverty, killing, religious warfare, rapists, murders, serial killers, etc...
never has, never will...
And yet... It has all of those.

Poverty is needed, I feel there are a lot of underprivileged people who deserve better than poverty.
But those people who don't work, didn't go to college, and practically leech off society deserve to be live like that.

the war with Cuba hurts us more than them, it was a retarded measure to begin with.
as for Russia, aqre you suggesting that communism would not have economically collapsed if America had not encouraged its demise?

Yes, had we not provided a roudblock economically and militarily through the old, I mean cold war... they would've been the dominant super power.
