Yopo seeds germination
    #3920120 - 03/15/05 09:54 AM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Do i have to soak them in water? If yes, does it have to be very hot as with HBWR seeds, or just cold water overnight?

Also, do they require pea inoculant like other dmt containing plants?

Thanx in advance

Hey I have just germinated A.colubrina cebil, and all i did was plant in some moist well drained soil. Nothing extra or special was done to aid germination, it took about 5 days.  Good luck

The tec I used was to put them into hot water and let it slowly cool overnight. When they had swelled to kidney bean size I put them onto soil. You can cover lightly or leave them on top of loose damp soil. Cover with plastic wrap until they are up.

yea they sproat super easy man. just leave them in kleenex and keep moist. then you can oriantate them when you plant by how they sproat. i used a bright room but not really any direct sunlight. id let teh direct sunlight hit it after it gets a couple sets of leaves at least so it doenst dry out.

peace

Hey man I use the paper towel/kleenex tech all the time.

BUT if I want to plant them right in the soil which way do I plant them?
Flat? Up and down?
Is there a secret to make sure the root goes down and the shoot goes up?

You put them flat, but don't cover them with soil. One tentacle will become it's root and the shoot will go up (all that in some days). Leave the procedure to mother nature. Just preserve humidity for some time.

I've grown about 65 -70 seedlings from seeds using the papertowel moistened with a bleach (2%)/ water solution and planted the sprouted seeds with no worry about being over, under. sideways.down .It made no difference. They seem to do alright just falling off the tree in the "wild".

I truly understand. I have one Mitragyna speciosa and a few Catha edulis started from seed this last summer and they are"my"babies and personal good friends. Best of luck. Peace and happiness, jack080247.

Planting sideways will work too in my experience. I didn't use a pea either. Just moist soil. But I find them very sensitive to light levels even at bigger sizes.
