they only think they play d&d because they are lvl 99 mages. i think they are only really concerned about them cheating to gain exp, even though they are at the their limits.

In role playing games, the 'character' is just a tool of the 'player'.  That's why RPG's are so fun, because your character can do whatever you want in the game, and there are no real life consequences for you, the player. 

In real life, the body is just a tool for the soul.  People who play RPG's tend to realize this, whereas people who don't play RPG's tend to get caught up in the illusion that they are a body and nothing more. 

Maybe the Israeli Army just doesn't like its soldiers to be so close to the truth. 

"That dungeons and dragons is putting bad ideas in our troops' heads!  Its making them realize that they shouldnt fear death because their existence goes beyond the physical!  We must destroy this game at once!"

That whole "reality isn't real" thing has been played out by every major religion, includig the Jew religion.


I think the issue here is that D&D promotes defining your own reality, and most military organizations prefer to supply you with a standard issue reality and world view.
