Either works really. People don't care in general, just say you're composting or something. If you're not acting strange, people have no reason to suspect anything. It's like being scared to buy fertilizer at a store because they may think you're growing weed: foolish.

Agreed. I called this lady up that owns a farm for teaching riding leasons and asked if i could scoop up some poo out of her field to use this spring for fertilizing my flower beds. She fuckin laughed at me for about 5 minutes straight and the whole conversation thereafter. But she bought it. Now i get poo any time i want.

My main concern is going back every few weeks for a new 50 pounds. "Damn you sure must got a big garden"

That works if you have many. As of yet I've only found one horse stable and that person only has 2 horses and a garden of their own where they use the shit up.

You may want to consider using straw to bulk up the shit, or use straw by itself now and again.

Just tell them that you are enrichening your top soil in your yard and garden.

The sand content of the soil is terrible...and that you were told to keep adding manure to it.

I've never had people act even somewhat suspicious of me when picking up manure.  They usually even invite me back to get another truckload.  Never any questions asked either, after all horse manure is one of the last things people associate with illegal activities.

Always have your story too.  "Hi I'm Dave, the woman needs tons of horse manure for her tomato garden this year, mind if I get some?"

The worst case scenario when picking up manure is people thinking you're a little strange.  No problem.

If you don't have a pick up truck. Beg, borrow one & get a 1/2 ton load - rather than 50 lbs. Plus - Offer a few bucks & pay for the poo. Usualy, If you are paying $20 a P/U load, they don't ask Q's.
