One of my jobs, is working at a coffee shop. I dont even drink coffee. I cant help becoming enraged by these "single-shot-mocha-latte-extra-hot-skinny" people. I apparently didnt get the memo that drinking coffee was cool, and a good way to state your "uniqueness". The other day, someone asked me for a double shot of decaf espresso. I wanted to give him a beret and beat him with biscotti.
I am starting to loathe having to deal with these people. Every single one of them are douchebags. I have no beef with the coffee drinkers, or the americano folk. What makes me even more angry is that they have absolutely no clue whatsoever, as to what they are ordering. They couldnt tell me the difference between a latte and a cappuccino, a mocha or a mocha joe, but they are sure they want a mocha cappuccino.... then you have the "healthy" people who want skim milk with their cup of chocolate, vanilla flavoring, added sugar, and whip cream. These are probably the same people that eat a celery stick after munching down 4 cheesburgers and think it will be ok.
You arent cool for drinking a latte, or trying to force down a 2 dollar fluid ounce of espresso. This is a great example of douchebagdom begetting douchebagdom. If everyone can just agree that the emporer has no clothes on, i can just go back to selling coffee.

See, i work on Vanderbuilt campus. It is comprised of 30% trustafarians and 60% fraternity/sorority oblivions who still think GWB is a good president. The other 10% may actually have a clue as to why they are there. So I see this behavior much more densly than most, which is why it is so unnerving.

Yeah, that is another thing. When did coffee transcend the common descriptors? is it too good to be called : small, medium , and large? no, we need grande, tall, and short, just goes to show that this is all a fad. ie. skinny, shot in the dark, hammerhead, frapaccino. It is like high school kids with some new slang, and everyone thinks they are cool since they are drinking something called a "hammerhead" then they sneak over to the milk booth, pour some out, add a bunch of half and half, then put 16 packets of Sweet N low. how come there is a fad based on a diuretic. basically it is "way cool" to shit.

It's a bad metaphor, but can you tell me the difference between FIFO and LIFO or top down design verses bottom up without looking it up? Well, you do burn more calories chewing celery than you take in eating it, so maybe if they ate a BUNCH of celery after the cheeseburgers, it would even out.

my wife annie is a barista at times, dam good one too, but she loves her job and working with coffee. And...what does starbucks have to do with this?

hmm.... ill take a guess that it is First in First Out, and Last in First out. Probably way off, im not a programmer, nor do i attempt to pose as one. I dont make instruments, but i play a bunch, therefor i am a musician, and i can go and sit down with clerks and talk about the instruments capabilities and such, where it was made, out of what....etc before i buy them. I dont walk in there and start using hollow terms just to seem like I know what I am talking about. basically, it is the fronting that bothers me. these people just want to be difficult and show that they are as "complex" as their drinks.

i live next to a hippy town. boulder, colorado. also home to CU. if any of you know it. and thats the best spot to work at starbucks. employees can make about 50 dollars an hour in tips during peak hours. needless to say, landing a job at a boulder starbucks is very very hard.

Actually yeah, that one thing pissed me off. A double shot of decaf expresso?
Why? That shit is nasty. You drink it because it's a caffeine jolt, that's it. Decaf expresso is like the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
Now, a medium Java chip frappucino. I can deal with that, big time.

What's the difference between a frappucino and a cappucino? Did Starbucks just make up the frappucino on their own?
btw Starbucks Doubleshot is the best tasting thing I've ever drank.

cappucino is 50% foam, 20% velvety foam, 20% steamed milk, and 10% expresso - or close to that. frappucino is an iced, expresso-based drink that has no steamed milk in it.

people drink defaf for the taste of the espresso. I enjoy the taste of straight up espresso (doppio with whipped cream is quite good), but sometimes I do not need feel jittery.
I am a barista myself, btw.
