Need freeware jpg editor

I need a freeware editor that will at a minimum let me easily edit jpgs...like crop them, etc. with a simple interface. (I used to use Jasc paint shop until my time expired).

Any tech gurus out there who can steer me in the right direction?

While the gimp is a pretty good editor, it definitely does not have a simple interface.

The one I see posted here, and one I have used, other than photoshop, is Irfanview.

The new gimp is pretty good. not as good as adobe, but hey its free.

Stop using *n?x software on windows :rolleyes:  GAIM and theGIMP suck major ass in my experience under windows - hell, they use different versions of GTK and its a hassle and a half to get it going right.  They both, however, function much better in the enviorenment they were intended for :smile:

try to find jasc's pSP 3.0 .... it MIGHT be available to download on their site. It's 30 day shareware BUT when it expires... it just annoys you when you first open it up... but it doesnt shut down.. haha

or the new PAINT that comes with windows xp lets you edit jpg, bmp, and gif

You, experience, windows? I thought you were using a unix flavor?
It is great that you use unix, and it is great that there is unix out there, but you can not prohibit people using windows if they want to. I am not telling you to stop using unix either, do I?

Back to the subject:
As it has been already said, IrfanView is excellent for those kinds of image manipulations, there is even a tutorial at the shroomery for all computer unsavvy people.

No, no, I am saying, as has been noted before in other topics (too early in the day to go searching) that a lot of GTK apps are crap on windows.  I *hated* theGIMP on windows.  Because I use *n?x now I am precluded from ever having used windows?  I'm confused.  All I am saying is that oftentimes, GTK apps work and look better on *n?x than windows.  That is all.  Someone said something about theGIMP; I defended it. :shrug: apologies, I'll just phase back in the background for a bit with it :wink:

I tried that one and used it for awhile, but it did eventually stop working.

Twas good while it lasted.

I've used the gimp and gaim both on windows and on linux (debian) and I cant really tell the difference.
