How Important Is Temperature Consistency?
    #3771841 - 02/12/05 06:31 PM (19 years, 1 month ago)

I know to keep the temp above 70, but not too hot, but how important is it that the temperature is staeady. What if it goes up and down a bit? I am talking about when jars incubate, but I guess this question can work for any part of the growing cycle.

its not a big deal if you're talkin within 5 degrees.  but keep in mind that large swings back and forth will stunt growth... best to keep as constant as possible... gl :stoned:

you need 84-86 for incubation not above 70. 74-76 for fruiting. any variation will show a slower results.

Would it be bad to keep a heating pad set at low under the jars to keep them warm and consistent? Keeping in mind it would get over say 80

That's fine, but make sure to record temps at the very bottom of jars as well (i.e. don't just read from very top of chamber) to make sure the heating pad isn't cooking them. Heating pads have a tendency to heat unevenly, you might want to put them on a rack slightly suspended off the heating pad as well. Low 80's is great.

I try to keep all things INCUBATING close to 80F. Few degree's either way - works well. you can F/U when you are close to 85F, as spawn bags, jars & substrate containers run a degee or 3 more - by heat they themselves generate. Around 90F++, things begin to slow down.
