How can one identify what kind of shrooms they found?

Identifing a mushroom can be pretty hard unless you are extremely experienced, which I assume you are not from the content of your post. If you are looking for a hallucianeginic(sp) species there are many recources scattered around The Shroomery to aid you in your search. You will want to find one or more that grow in your area and research it then when you go out to look for them you might have a chance in hell rather than trying to ID every shroom you come across. If you are just showing curiosity I would suggest a mushroom field guide which is a good purchase in any case.

I agree, somewhat. Although, I believe that if you learn to KNOW all the mushrooms, then you'll be much happier in finding a magic species. It's always a good idea to research the subject first.
