physics help needed on a problem

Hi,
I am currently confused about how to do a physics problem. It is pretty straight forward I am sure, but I cannot figure it out:

A certain projectile is launched with an initial speed v0. At its highest point its speed is v0/7. What was the launch angle?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmm, is there anymore info. I don't see how you can determine the launch angle based on that alone. Is there any information about distance traveled, height reached, time?

Assuming no friction, it's a conservation of energy problem.

When it's launched, it has some upward momentum - total momemtum * umm.. sin or cos of the angle. Convert this momentum to energy - it should be a multiple of the projectiles mass. Convert this energy to a height.

E = mv^2 = mgh (g=accelation of gravity), or somesuch.

sorry, this is totally wrong, i misread the problem.

At it's highest point, all the momentum is the horizontal component; the vertical compnonent is gone.

So, when it's launched, the vertical component of it's momentum is seven times the horizontal. So, tan(angle) = 7.


Edit: wrong again, only closer
total velocity (not vertical component) = 7 times horizontal component.

So, cos(angle) = 1/7.

Hey man, I coulda swore i won a contest you sponsored where I figgured out what a picture of a grain of starch was. I can't find any record of it, though, and it coulda been someone else entirely. I'm just confused.
