I've recently tried rye berries as a substrate with fairly bad results. The last batch of jars I made had an awful smell permiating af ter a couple days incubating. (later i realize i didn't flush out the water I had them soaking in for 24 hours, maybe this was the prob?) So now i want to try a finch seed bulk tek. Does anyone know where I could find one?

i think birdseed is easier to use! you dont have to mix any ingredients, just steep some (finch) seed for about 45 min, strain, and load the jars! my recipe is: some steeped finch seed, and a little bit of verm. no need to measure, but i think it would come out to 4:1 finch:verm.
