Poly Fil???
    #368173 - 08/07/01 12:40 PM (23 years, 1 month ago)

aka o0NBK0o here
I have a few questions on using the poly fil as a filter that for the life of me could not find.
1: What is the best way to attack it to the lid of the jar?
2: Do you leave it attached while the jar is being pressure cooked or boiled. PeAcE

(iTS just murder man, all gods creatures do it};-)

Just poke a 1/4" hole in the lid of the jar and stuff the polyfil into the hole. Leave it in while PC'ing and it will prevent any contams from entering the jar during cooling. The other advantage to doing it this way is that you can tape your innoculation holes with electrical tape and innoculate through the tape or through the polyfil itself. I prefer the first method having dislodged the polyfil plug too many times when I was still using jars.

twist it tight to get it in there without any loose spots. (hehe). and trim the excess, which can harbor condensation and other nasties...
