I looked back through the forum and archives without seeing too much on this subject.
Right now i have my sonic humidifier running 2 hours on 1 hour off for my rubbermaid bin. Is that too little or too much?
I would love to make a timer that would allow me to do like half an hour on 15 minutes off. Anyone know how to make one? Cause buying one is hella expensive. I would also want another time to turn on a fan to exchange the air for 5 minutes once an hour. That would make everything pretty much automated. Just make the cakes, dunk them, keep the water full and harvest.
Anyone know how I can make a simple little timer to turn on for x minutes and off for y minutes?

I found this link while looking into doing the same thing - the air-pump is noisy on all the time... But I couldn't be bothered to make it so I got the timer in the next link instead...

For the '15min on, 30 min off' timer, you can buy timers segmented into fifteen minute intervals, using flip switches. They are 5 pounds in england.

Have you tried one of these? 24 settings per day, in 30 minute segments. You can pick one up for around 10 bucks.

Digital Timers at Wal-Mart are the way to go IMO. You can get one for about $20 and it's fully programable. You can have your appliances come on for 20 minutes, 10 minutes, 1 minute, or even only 1 second every hour or 2 hours or, etc. You get my drift. I have mine set to run for 12 minutes on, then 1 hour off, around the clock. I works for me and I love it.

Cool, thanks for the help. Right now have my sonic running 2 hours on, 1 off but i think i will soon upgrade that timer so i can have it more like BJ's.
I wanted to have a timer on a computer case fan that i plan on installing on the box. That timer would have to run something like 5 minutes every hour or 2 but recycle timers cost like $100 (WTF!?) but now i can make one for like 10$. Thanks Flashman.

Home depot sells a good digital one that can be programmed to do exactly what you want for $20.
Go to homedepot.com and search for 151146
This is the SKU# for the 'Intermatic

office-max has one of those timers with 15 min. settings... For the ultimate control! Looks just like the one posted above, with thinner tabs.
I have four of those above, and two of the 15 min. timers.
I have one on my coffee maker, since it likes to just run forever without any real heat guidance! (My coffee pot is one of the ON/OFF style pots that heats up until the pad overheats... then turns off and on like that until the power is off.) Since I run my coffee pot all day, I saved 50% on my electric since most of the heat was wasted. Next I want to make a heat sock, from a large oven mitt, to fit around my coffee pot.
