any ideas?

i just found out that my terrarium is too small for what i was trying to do. i already made three casings and there is only room for one more in there, but the problem with that is that i have 6 cakes left and the casing trays only hold 2. i cant make another terrarium because i dont have the equipment neccsary and i dont want to waste all 6 cakes on invitro. would i be able to stack some of the cakes on top of eachother? i was thinking i could put three cakes stacked up on top of a small layer of verm. then i would crumble one cake and make a casing around the three cakes. then i would let the remaining two cakes grow invitro. would the casing/three cake method work? i was thinking i would put i tiny layer of verm in between each stacked cake, so they will eventually form into one huge cake.

You should have forseen this problem! I suggest you device another terrarium out of a plastic bucket or something. Even a cardboard box lined with a garbage bag will prolly work!

i dont have anything to make humidity with so i cant devise another terraruim! my hmuidifier is small and ieven though it is perfect for one terrarium it wont work for two. i kind of did forsee the problem but i was too excited about get them done cased and growing that i forgot. i cant hand spray either because i only got one spray bottle that is good and it has a mix of distilled water and rubbing alchohal to sterilize my work area and i use it too often to get rid of the mix, and chemicals like rubbing alchohal never really fully leave. iand now that i used my brain i figured out the method i was trying wont work since the trays are small and they will probly tip over. i was thinking i could put a small layer of verm down, put on two cakes, put another layer of verm on around the two cakes, and then put another cake on top of each of the two cakes and "cement" them together with a tiny bit of verm. shit, i should become an arccitect and build a sculpture out of fruiting pf cakes!! spray bottles are only 34 cents though. oh ya, thanks for the needles!

I'd recommend making levels too, is your terrarium high enough to put a wire mesh shelve in?

Get your hands on some packing peanuts, crunch them up real good, use as perlite. Now you've got humidity.

hey dude, if you got anything to put your extra casings in (rubbermaid, 5 gallon bucket etc. with tight fitting lid, you really don't need anything for humidity just mist the sides and you will be fine. seriously try it ! it works just fine for my gorilla and you aint gotta mess with perilite or humidifiers or anything. Ahhhh the simplicity of this is what a my monkey freind likes ! good luck !

the terrarium isnt high enough for another shelf. its just a 10 gal aquarium. nobody thinks that i could just stack the cakes with a tiny tiny layer of verm in between. it would just be a two cake stack so i dont need any screws. i really have nothing i could put them in, and i have no money to buy anything. actually, i owe a friend 10 bucks!!! does anyone really know anything about putting a casing on a table or something and not in a terrarium? ive heard of this, but not enough info to really do anything. all the bowls and tupperware containers that are usable that i have are too short, so they wont work. come one, somneone out there has to have some info that could help me!!

Come on brother puscle, you don't seriously mean what you say here???????? Packing PENUTS?!?! last time i heard they were made of 1 of 2 products. One, was styrofoam, and the other was i think some kind of protein byproduct(dont' quote me on that one since i slept thru my chemistry classes.. YES ALL OF THEM! ), which some of us know dissolves in water. So, i doubt that this would work, unless you have another way ??? peace

a_c, if you live in a humid climate an open air casing should work. And yeah, you can try stacking the cakes.

How humid ic California this time of year? And wouldn't it be easier and maybe more effective to just use perlite, and not spend the energy crushing them up. It really isnt worth saving the buck or two.

the lowest humidity in my room is 65% and the highest is about 73%. it doesnt matter if perlite or peanuts are cheaper, i dont have any money to begin with!! i am in debt 10 bucks!! and the only way i will be able to pay him back is by selling, and i am no drug dealer. do you really think the open air casing will work? i guess i will make the cake building and then i will put the remaining two cakes in an open air casing. what do you think would work better, growing invitro where i can get around 6 flushes, or risking the open air casing and maybe getting more?

Growing invitro would be a surer bet. But If you've got a bucket, you can grow a casing in there, for humidity all you need is the misting of the casing itself and to mist the sides. You can use a plastic bag as a lid. Now if you don't own a hand sprayer, I would advise against casing. Hey, everything's gonna be allright.
