The Pub vs. OTD

Is it just me, or does there seem to be a budding rivalry? There has always been comparisons but it seems to me that the last week or so the OTD regulars have something to prove.

OTD is getting dirtier and nastier and less and less welcoming and they seem to get some kind of satifaction on taking their grit out on Pubbers. (COUGH. jettajay)

I used to be an OTD reg. It was my home. Hell, I moderated OTD for a year, but it's really gross now. This is supposed to be community of likeminded people helping each other out and making some friends along the way, not ripping each other to shreds as some kind of sick initiation process.

Maybe I'm getting old or something. Is there an OTD/Pub rivalry?

Yes, and hopefully the rivalry is taken very seriously by a few members and then blown out of proportion by everyone else.

I see OTD as a necessity for a site like this. It's a place for everyone to go to bitch and be their nastiest. If there wasn't a place set up for that, then people would be breaking the rules all the time everywhere else. They let the rules be broken in OTD. I think OTD should use an extra layer of warning. Some of the stuff posted there is beyond obscene. That said, I sometimes enjoy going there to read everyone busting each other's chops. It's funny sometimes. You can't take anything they say as serious, particularly when directed at you. They are just trying to see if they can get to you. I blow it off. If you can't handle it, just don't go there. I guess that's one of the reasons it got moved so far down on the listing of forums.

they should make a forum that is invite only. in this forum people can go to do their bitching. invite someone there to bitch them out.

Ah, I'm going to have to take your analogy and turn it around a little bit.

The pub is mostly older members who have had thier fill of OTD and moved on to different kind of content.  I realize that BRAND NEW members can't participate in OTD, but I think that there are more seasoned Shroomerites in the Pub.

Therefore OTD would be the smaller more obnoxious little brother with a meth addition and the Pub is the older brother who's trying to grow a nice crop of fungus.  :smirk:

I've also noticed that lately it seems to some kind of rivalry between the two.  Everyone in the pub thinks that OTD is crass and vulgar...and everyone thinks that the Pub is full of Nancy boy Dead-heads.  Personally...I think they are both right... :wink:

i remember when it use to be fun to post in otd. now i make one post and have to spend the rest of the time arguing with people who twist your words. its a stipid rivavlry between 2 forums on a single site... give me a break.

2 forums for 2 different posting styles.. there shouldnt even be a "rivalry" its just a few stupid people with nothing better to do than create uneeded drama

We used to have a forum like that right around the time i signed up, it was called' the "thunderdome" If you think OTD is nasty, you should have gone in the thunderdome :grin:

My thoughts on OTD are you have to vent sometimes and that is all well & good but sometimes things are taken way too far. There has to be a limit to how cruel people can be. I know if I go into OTD, it will be with me leaving my feelings and hang-ups at the door. I wouldn't give them something to go off on.
