snow to 70 in 3 days question

the best waY TO FIND OUT is just to go out there and look , but since i wait till dusk and its a tad early...it snowed here in tex on xmas morning and was gone by late afternoon. i'm making a couple of assumptions here, but lets see...

i ASSume the snow gave plenty of moisture to the pies even though they were covered with snow for about a day.

i also have to assume 2 days of 60-75 degree weather and direct sunshine will help things along. wait. 3 days...odds anyone? weather here is so funky.

Stop experimenting half way through your first grow. Grow it to maturity, watch it, learn from it. Do this a few times then experiment with different ideas and figure out what works best for you.

well i did go out there. but you lose. i did too. nadda...either i decimated my field (see earlier posts) and will have to wait a few weeks...or the snow was too much for the cope mycilia...OR...the snow didnt provide enough m,oisture and the ensuing temps didnt actually get above 69 degrees.

HOWEVER...i have hatched a NEW plan! tommorow...just before dayligh, i'm going to go water my piles. temps are above 70 now in the daytime...65 at night. in theory, i should come back successful within a week or so. its just a matter of ducking under barbed wire with gallon jugs of tap water in the dark at 6am. no biggie. i'll let you know how itr goes.

on the bright side, i DID find a cow horn. all by its lonesome. i walked back to my house...and on the way some kids asked where i got it. i told them i fought a cow and won. and they were like " reallllly?" yeah.

so i took it home...and today, i painted it. or started to. i'll post pictures of the horn as soon as this work in progress is done. a pastural scene on a horn. its fitting. from cow to field and then on the reamains of the cow , a field.

i also realized my field is alot larger than i once though. so i'll have a chance to do some exploring. i wonder how fog effects the pies. i assume its good for them moisture wise.

you're right. the news says we go up to 80s 90s soon. maybe some rain. i never did go out to water the pies. the logistics were a bit too much to handle. i'll have to let nature take its course. in the meantime , i'm ordering salvia. or something like it.

you must be stoned, but your posts all make perfect sense to me, with a kind of comical whimsic ignoring of grammar :grin:.. I type like that when I am trying to get a report paper down in ink before I take it to the chopping block..

Shrooms and cow horns!! sounds like you are having grand adventures. Careful though, just wait for summer, plenty more shrooms will come.. Did you think it may be too cold for them to fruit ? Either way, give it a couple weeks.

yeah, i never do grammar or spell checking on my posts. i figure the message gets through. and this is how i talk. =D

now i'm trying to dry my mushrooms that ive found and i'm finding it difficult. i stick them under a lamp , but i hear heat takes away some of the psylo. i put them in honey fresh, but water takes away the psylo. at best i think i might be able to place them in honey, MOSTLY dry. kind of a pain. i ate some fresh from the feild not too long ago , and the difference was amazing. but i'd really like to preserve what i find in case we get another cold spell. right now , thier in a cardboard box with 2 holes cut on either side to let the air flow through. should i steal some little desicant packages from walmart clothing dept? the kind you find int he pockets?
