Actually, your pontifical tone aside, I think there is something to what you say. Those who believe that drug use means they are free from an oppressive government, or are in someway changing the world, are misled. However, drug use as an activity doesn't necessitate apathy or inactivity. I think what you view as apathy through drug use is really a smaller part of a far more insipid movement of apathy, conformism and compliance that plagues many Western states as governments increasingly become more authoritarian. People just don't seem to protest anymore. It's scary and dangerous.

I see what he is saying though. Most of the people I know that use drugs fit into this category he described. There to buisy lookin behind them for cops and staying out of trouble then bothering standing up for there rights.

It's not "manufactured", what a crock of shit. Rebellion is popular simply because we've made rebels into heroes. Enjoying the idea of the rebel hero does not make you a "sucker".

You're the one who seems to feel that society is something to break free from. That being an "individual" is the most important ideal to look up to. That creativity and uniqueness is more important than peace or happiness. Who's the sucker?

I know what he's saying, not a hard thing to observe. I know 3 or 4 people who actually do things to fight for more freedoms but I know hundreds who use drugs and most of them talk alot, this is something I figured out after about 1 month of pot smoking.

I also know people who join groups, protest, and hand out flyers to "fight for freedoms", which doesn't necessarily mean they're actually doing anything that will effect anyone positively.

I gave up pot awhile a couple weeks back to help me stop smoking cigs, I don't really mis either of them anymore. I smoked a couple bowls with a few peoples I won't be seeing for a long time last week but I have no real problem with that sort of thing, I know if I bought it though I would be smoking daily so I just won't buy any.
