anyone give advice on shipping plants

im going to be shipping some mints, aloe from tx to ca and ive never shipped plants so i could use some advice/tips on how to pkg them, so they wont die/or become unhealthy

With mint you will have no problem. That shit lives through most anything! And as a succulent aloe ships well. The standard is to ship all plants bare root(no soil) to avoid soilborn parasites and funguses that may be in your area. Take the plant wash all the dirt off of the roots, taking care not to harm the roots too much, then wrap them in a thick layer of moist, not sopping wet, paper towels, then a layer of dry paper towels(dry towels aren't necessary I just like to do it 'cuz it keeps everything from getting wet) then stick the whole thing in a plastic bag, well the mints anyway. With the aloe you can ship just bare root, you don't need to wrap up its roots, just make sure it is packaged well enough to keep from breaking and damaging the roots. I reccomend sending it Priority Mail or Next Day air.

I've shipped numerous plants, cacti, and succulents this way as well as received them packaged this way. It does just fine and the plants usually don't have much of a problem with it.

Sure you could do it, but you WOULD BE BREAKING THE LAW. Don't ship plants from state to state. There are rules against that for a very good reason, and it is not a political one. The spread of plant pathogens is a terrible thing, plants have to be inspected before shipping them. Pretty much everything is illegal to ship to California. I think that is probably how they made spores illegal there. They are a big Agricultural State, and don't want you bringing in a piece of fruit, let alone shipping a living plant, soil or not. The plant can still be diseased. But if you must, the two plants you are sending can be cheaply purchased any where, so WHY would you?
