I'd bet Swami has looked many people in the eyes who believe in heaven and hell. He's probably looked people in the eyes who believed they've been abducted by aliens too. Belief is extremely useless to truth.

What if there is belief in a lie? Belief doesn't change the nature of the statement or object being believed in. If you believe in gnomes with all your heart, it doesn't change the fact of whether they are there or not. It could be an illusion (or in some cases a delusion) that is believed, or a fact that is believed, either way it will not change its nature because of some human's belief.

whether or not you can see numbers doesnt change the fact that matter can be counted in a metrical sequence....my grandfather is blind and he can touch a bag of oranges and count how many are in the bag and if he counts correctly, he has arrived at truth.

What are numbers with out limbs ? There comes a set of circumstances where numbers can not be proven as truth to a person. Truth is a belief in a set of principals or beliefs that we all take for granted. So much in fact that we call it truth. Really there is no truth as many have said

no. the existence of truth is not dependent on belief.

ex:

you are standing out in your yard and a guy with a crane is holding a 2 ton rock over your head and tells you that if he drops it, the rock will smash you.
you have no belief in gravity or that what he says is truth, so you say "drop that rock."
whether you believe it or not, the truth is that you will be smashed by the rock.
