Thanks, looks like a deal. I had planned on scrounging some out of a construction dumpster but this looks good.
Would tyvek make better walls in a small basement lab and grow room than plastic? If so what side faces inward? Thanks

look i cross posted this thread so that everyone would know about it. now i am sorry i did. it looks like everyone would rather steal from the government for it or buy a whole goddamn roll. anyways, i am not the one selling it. i was planning on using it to setup a grow space for maitake and since they require a condensing fog to fruit i thought i could separate my shelves so that if one tray got infected the others wouldnt. however i dont know if the fog will pass through or not. anyways for this purpose the free envelopes will not work. i posted the link for anyone who wants square yards(not inches, like the envelopes) but dont want to buy a whole roll for over a hundred bucks. sorry for cross posting. it does look like an ad but i could give 2 shits if you buy it or not. the point is, F.Y.I.- cheap tyvek cut to specs. so fuck off if the info doesnt work for you. if it does great, but if it is no use to you, then why bother posting and wasting all of our time?

what are you gonna do to get a yard? sew them ? glue? tape, maybe, but it wont stick in a condensing fog. you folks that feel the need to bash me cause i dont do it your way can smoke a fatty and laugh at me but please dont post ... it is kinda pathetic to see you have nothing else to say except how bad my idea is for wanting unbroken strips of tyvek. i got my first piece of it today. 2'x2' for free with shipping as a sample from a nice guy on ebay if it works, i think i'd rather buy it by the yard rather than try to get my sewing machine out

wow, flames for posting a link to a legitamate source of a specialty tool!

i'll sidestep the war and point out that, using an impulse sealer, tyvek can be patched together.

i like the idea fungophiliac has for setting up partitions. however, the fog will not freely pass through tyvek. the drops suspended in air that you call fog are entirely too large to pass through tyvek. this is not to say that tyvek is moisture proof. If I had to run with the concept, I'd say use tyvek for partitioning and a fogger with multiple pipe outputs to feed each partition. this is easily accomplished with a five galoon bucket with a lid. just drill .5" holes for the input and each required output. use .5" tubing for the interconnects. the lid pops off for easy emptying/cleaning.

FWIW, kite suppliers sell 3'X50'-100' rolls of tyvek.

hey deb

by the way - re the kite tyvek: don't do it!!

i bought some kite-maker tyvek a while back, and used it on some jars. i gave some to a friends, who had the same experience i did: lotsa green in the jars  :frown:
kite tyvek is too wind-permeable for a sterile environment.

thanks debian, i wasnt sure if it wuold work or not. just asking that vendor got me a free square. i also appreciate knowing that an impulse sealer will patch them together. does anyone know how much a good fogger that cuold supply enough fog for a five by ten enclosure?
on a side note if tyvek can be patched together with impulse sealer, can i make my own spawn bags with the right plastic and a scrap of tyvek?

Theoretically it should work. Would be interesting to try it out ...
