sea of shrooms tek question

The tek says when pins form to remove the casing from the cup and set it on the perlite.
Since it's crumbled cake in the middle, what keeps it from falling apart?
As it rehydrates will it "stick together" ? Can someone tell me what it will look like
at that point?

I just did that.. removed 4 sos casings and bam.. got 4 new cakes from 1 cake
