smoking A. Muscaria

someone found some fly amanita's today and is thinking about smoking them. Anyone had any personal experience? he's wondering what a good dosage is, if anyone's had a good experience eating them maybe he'll try that. personally i've heard they're pretty bad for your liver so i'll be advising against that. Are any of the toxins taht cause such problems broken down when burned? thanks for any insights

so long as you don't do a heroic dose i'm guessing you'll be physically fine (unless you found the Amanita Virosa, Pantherina, etc species in which case youll die) if you eat them. if you arent paying for them you can try smoking them since you have nothing really to lose but i would just eat them (even though they look and smell like shit -- im sorry, most people think they look good but they look like shit to me -- i probably wouldnt eat them in any case)
i would just stick to psilocybin and acid

panther caps contain same chems as muscarias (fly caps), but generally in higher concentrations...
not especially hepatoxic... the high is from "toggle-switch" intoxication (GABA pathway?) & convulsions are a possibility (esp. at higher doses...)(& muscimol seems gentler than ibotenic acid, so dry them or cook them first for sure....)
death cap toxins are another story...

Eating muscarias is NOT bad for your liver and smoking them IS bad for your lungs, OK? Smoking several dry grams will give you a mild buzz plus a sore throat. Eating the same amount (in tea, soup, omelet, or stir-fry) will give you the same buzz wthout having to inhale all that nasty smoke. Just be sure they're truly muscaria, & not one of the deadly Amanitas. Worst that can happen w/ a reasonable dose of muscaria is nausea, followed by inebriation, followed by drunken stupor, followed by long deep sleep w/ vivid dreams, followed by waking up feeling refreshed & invigorated without typical alcohol hangover symptoms.

A. muscaria is NOT a substitute for psilocybian mushrooms. It CAN be a semi-psychedelic substitute for alcohol, which is the familiar drug it most closely resembles in most of its effects.
