Curious about ordering syringes this time of year
    #3508542 -

I plan to place an order for a half dozen or so syringes here soon, but it is getting into the colder months, and I'm worried that with them sitting in the mailbox for any length of time, that it would be too cold for them...

It's been in the 30's here all week, will freezing the syringes hurt them, or do the suppliers do anything to prevent against the freezing?

They will be fine.

Well if you plan on picking your mail up the day it was delivered then you will be fine, but if youi are leaving town and think your package may sit in the box outside for a while then you may want to re-think your plans.

They will be fine if you have a PO Box, since they are always indide a heated building.

But I belive that you are referring to an outdoors mailbox. They will be fine for probably 3 days at the most. I wouldn't leave them for any longer than that.

Hope this helps...

I think I remember someone postings on here who said he went out one day to get his spores that had just come in the mail. The water inside the syringe was frozen solid, but everything turned out fine. But yeah, I wouldn't suggest leaving them in cold temperatures for very long.

if you don't leave them in the mail box for 4 days like i did last year they will be fine (30 degrees or less in o-high-o ) - but it was the beavers fault, you know how that goes, stop in for a cocktail and the next thing you know you wake up 4 day's later. anyway's i fucked up and ralph made it right even though it was my fuck up.nothing against the other vendors but customer service is a definite plus. ralph made it right even though i fucked it up - i thought that was pretty impressive.

I think we shouldn't forget that spores survive through entire winters every year.  Spores are so damn resilient it amazes me. I just screwed up a TiT incubator, and some of mine still survived after a day at 135deg F.

True, but cubes don't generly grow naturaly where winters are SEVERE - either. Never found a native cube in Alaska.

I received some last year that were frozen. they turned out just fine. I really haven't read any horror stories about frozen spores.
