in addition to the "ignore user" feature, i think it would be a good idea to have a feature that you can block other users from reading your posts. think it can happen?

i think it'd be grand...having the choice of being selective with your posts. i think it would kill the trolls, obsessors, haterz, flamers, stalkers, stupid ppl, etc. in ther tracks

perhaps a secret forum is in order, invite only, where everybody knows your name I personally hate reading a thread and seeing people respond to the people I have set to ignore (with good reason, if I could press charges for text that assaults my eyes,I would suffer from repeated felonies on a daily basis). It's also shitty, because every so often I get curious to see what they are saying and quote them, and find out that curiosity is sometimes best left behind. edit: I was about to reply to a thread by you but it got locked... I see now what you mean with this post. ps: It looks like you were really enjoying yourself, and just wanted to share I have no rythm and dancing consists of shuffling my feet about and hoping the lights are dark enough nobody can see that I'm not in time.

exactly, this way it wont be a one way streak... cut out the user as if they didnt exist and all the bullshit ends.

This would be an awful idea.
Stopping other people from reading your posts would entirely negate the "discussion" element of the forum, would allow people who propagate incorrect information to screen out criticism, would encourage elitism and would to be frank be universally abused.
Please don't do this.

universally abused? if this was to happen, im sure ppl would use discretion & common sense on who they choose to block. this would mostly be affective to those who do nothing but flame, troll, post obsene pictures, etc.

Imagine how insulted and rejected from the internet community you would feel to find out a user does not want you to read their posts. Alas!

if this feature were to be implemented, id like to suggest when a user blocks someone, that their screen name is also marked 'anonymous' or something of the sort.

I we were to implement it, we would of course make it so that moderators and administrators can not be blocked, what did you think?

i do believe this feature could have avoided 12 pages of anger torwards the mods & admins, in the recently locked "Remove Swami's Ban" thread. if ppl were so offended by Swampis words, they could have blocked him, and posted their post without out fear of SWAMPI. [d00m]
could you elaborate a rational reason why this feauture shouldnt be implemented?

Odiumjunkie summed it up pretty well:

Solution: put a restriction on how many users you can block. there are 27,347 Registered Users to date, allowing 1 user to block not more than 3* people (*for example), isnt going to create any of the assumptions in Odium Junkies post above. in other words, the block would be warranted & could not possibly be abused.
