Geolite
    #3469843 - 12/09/04 12:12 PM (12 years, 1 day ago)

It's about time to construct my PMP to get ready for the big birthday party. I was wondering where the best place to pick up some geolite would be (online or otherwise). I remember seeing a thread regarding this before but for some reason I just couldn't dig it up.

Any help appreciated!

it's relatively heavy stuff, so you really want to find a place that sells it locally. Look for hydroponic garden shops. Most relatively-large cities that I've checked out have them. Try looking in your phone book, or calling a normal nursery/garden store and asking them if they know of any stores specializing in hydroponics.

You could use perlite on the bottom instead.

I considered perlite, but geolite seems like less of a mess in the long run. I'll check the local pet stores. Thanks!

Afoaf checked multiple stores around where he lives. Turns out it is easier to just order it online http://www.midwesthydroponics.com/products/hydro_products.asp?category=40 (Hydroton product at the very bottom of page).

I'm sure you can find geolite/hydroton cheaper, this link is just to help you find what you're looking for.

The problem is it is so heavy that shipping rates are incredible. Thats why everyone tells you to find it locally.
