Digeridoo (Sp?)
    #340407 - 06/14/01 03:39 AM (22 years, 9 months ago)

Has anyone ever tried blowing through a digeridoo (like you're supposed to), or just made that flappy lip thingie on your own?

I did it the other day, and looked at a computer monitor(turned on of course).. it appeared as if it was wavy, or jiggling. Nothing else did it, just the computer monitor. I imagine a TV would do it too. Anyone else ever experience that sort of thing?

lol!  hahahahaha hell yeah! that happens to me every day... i already should have gotten used to it, but it freaks me out every time i play my didge and look at the monitor... and you?r right, only the monitor does it... and strange thing is, only the person who plays the didge sees it... i asked my brother once to look at the monitor while i play, and he didnt notice anything... weird... when you play didgeridoo weird things start to happen... i love that instrument...

it is a native australian insturment, the ancient Aboriginal peoples made them from logs that had een hollowed out by white ants (termites etc..)

it has to be one of THE trippiest instruments, i swear. to play it PROPERLY is very difficult because you have to develop a circular breathing pattern. there is this one Aborigine that busks with his digeridoo around the Blue Mountains in aus. fucking awesome!

oh and phobos, if this is only a subjective thing then i am thinkin it probably has something to do with the amount of vibration caused by trying to play the digeridoo

It happens when you make the flubbery lip noise without the digeridoo also!

Does anyone here know where I can find info on how to play the "didge"? I wish I knew how.

yeah the wavy monitor thingie isnt from shrooms or whatnot. its from the vibrations in the digeridoo/whatever that get transferred to your body (ie your head) and shake your eyes. it has to do with the rate of scan that your monitor has. same thing happens when you are chewing and look at a LCD clock or sumpin.
