The best musical insturment you can play or listen to on shrooms has to be the didgeridoo. The last time my friend and I did mushrooms we started playing the didgeridoo and it made us trip out so bad we had to stop playing it. I bought my didg in Australia a while back but my friend has one made out of sewer pipe that sounds almost as good.

My friend and i once while tripping, got his didjeridoo and got into the shower and while blowing it, put the other end over the hole at the bottom of the shower...Try this, it literally reverberates through the piping around the entire house!! Trippy as - if you can play them properly and never stop, then it can lead to you to far off places - to the dreaming infact...

Nah...
GO to the hardware store and buy a 4 foot section of ABS pipe- make sure to sand the playing end down a bit tho.... Learn how to play on that first. It will take you a while, and you might get discouraged if you dish out $300 bucks for an instrument you wont be able to play right away....

My first didges were made of 1-1/4" ABS, no taper, no mouthpiece just straight pipe. Some poelpe reccomned 1-1/2" but its really hard toget a nice drone when youre just starting out.
Try this page out- they have a lot of the info you'll need to get started!

I'm going to Austrailia this summer for an internship, so that'd be cool if i could do that.

Well, in actuality they both kinda suck compared to wood. :)
I prefer plastic over aluminum tho. The aluminum i have played (tailpipes, from when i worked in an auto warehouse...) dulls a bit compared to ABS. ABS will probably cost about 5 bucks for a good didge for learning how to play. Im not sure about aluminum...
Not to mention you can alter your abs didge by heating it and bending or jamming a bottle in the end to create a bell (amplification). Like with most things, experiment to see what you like to play better, longer or shorter- wider or thinner... no limit to ABS.
However they both sound really crisp and artificial compared to a wooden didge. Its hard to tell the differance until youve been playing for years, so no big deal right away...
If you pick it up really well and want a good playing didge, there is a guy up here who makes unbelieveable wooden ones and will cater to exactly what you want. www.didje.com
I should mention that you have to be careful when buying didges made from wood grown in warmer climates. If you live somewhere where it gets relatively cold, the didge will crack. I know people who have Austrailian didges and brought them home only to have them crack like a mofo...

Ever wonder how didgeridoo players can make the sound without stopping to take a breath?
It's easy, once you get the hang of it. You puff up your cheeks, and use your "cheek muscles" to blow out air, and create a buzz with your lips when you take in another breath through your nose. This is how it is done, just practice.
(It's exactly like scottish bag pipes... only the bag is your mouth, and the arm that squeezes the bag is your cheeck muscles ... how this is a good analogy)

you aussies might already know about this band, but just in case ya dont. Everyone must listen to Dr Didg. they are this kick ass aussie jam band that's main focus is the didgeridoo. They're pretty damn good. "out of the woods" is the only album i know of them.
I'm also gonna buy some of that pipe and try that. being able to didg would be awesome....just pick up someones steamroller and bust out into song.

Newest Dr. Didg album's called Seritonality and I've got to recommend it with great sweeping enthusiastic arm gestures and hopping, it's so good, a lot of the tracks have this weird Arabian feel to them and it's just incredibly odd with the didgeridoo in there too, fantastic mushroom music.
He's a physics professor who spent all his time for a while doing studies on the air flow through tubes and learned to play the didgeridoo, he does some really strange things with it...
